“And say: My Lord, increase me in knowledge.”

Imam Ibn ‘Ābidīn ash-Shāmī رحمه الله mentions in the introduction to Radd al-Muḥtār:
“Everything about a person will be questioned on the Day of Judgment except knowledge, because Allah Himself commanded His Beloved Prophet ﷺ to ask for an increase in it: ‘My Lord, increase me in knowledge.'”

The Danger of Unverified Religious Information
Despite its many benefits, the internet also presents serious challenges. Alongside authentic knowledge, misinformation spreads rapidly.
Not everyone who speaks about Islam on social media is a qualified scholar, and not every viral post represents authentic Islamic teachings.
Explaining the Qur’an without proper knowledge, interpreting Hadith according to personal opinions, issuing incorrect religious rulings, or presenting personal views as Islamic guidance can mislead countless people.
In today’s digital world, many self-proclaimed “Islamic scholars” gain popularity despite lacking authentic scholarship. Rather than guiding people, some unintentionally create confusion and division.
For this reason, Muslims should seek knowledge from qualified Sunni scholars, trusted Islamic institutions, and authentic scholarly books.
